How Long Does It Take?
A well-designed wardrobe can transform the way you use your home — and at Packers, we're here to make that happen from the very first conversation. From initial design through to installation day, the full process can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months, so the earlier you start, the sooner you'll have a storage solution that works perfectly for you.
Phase 1: Design and Quote
Every project starts with a conversation. There are two ways to get the ball rolling:
Visit our showroom. Our Adelaide showroom — winner of the HIA Showroom of the Year award — is the best place to begin. You can touch and feel the materials, explore finishes in person, and sit down with one of our designers to start shaping your project.
Request a quote online or by phone. If you'd prefer to start remotely, you can submit an enquiry through the Packers website or give us a call. We'll gather the details we need and provide an initial quote by email.
Either way, this stage is about understanding what you want and what it will cost. It can take a week or two as we work through your options, refine the design, and confirm the scope.
Phase 2: On-Site Measure and Final Design
Once you're happy with the initial design direction, we'll schedule one of our designers to visit your home for an in-home measure and quote.
Important: your space must be ready before we visit. This means the flooring is laid and the room is in its finished state. Painting doesn't need to be complete, but the room needs to be finished in every other sense.
At this appointment, your designer will finalise your selections — finishes, internal fittings, drawer configurations, hanging space, and any additional features. They'll also flag any works that need to be completed by other trades before installation can proceed. This might include the removal of an existing wardrobe structure or electrical works.
Phase 3: Deposit, Scheduling, and Procurement
Once the on-site measure and final design are complete, a 50% deposit is required to confirm your order. From here, three things happen in parallel:
Your installation date is scheduled. Your order enters the manufacturing queue. And we begin procuring the hardware and board materials from our suppliers — including quality brands like Polytec and Häfele.
Because your wardrobe is manufactured specifically for your space, lead times reflect our local production and scheduling capacity. Expect around 4 to 12 weeks from this point, depending on the products selected and current demand.
Phase 4: Manufacturing
During the lead time, we manufacture your wardrobe to the exact specifications confirmed at your on-site measure. This phase runs in the background — there's nothing you need to do.
If you've been advised that other trades need to complete work before installation, this is the window to get those arranged and finished.
Phase 5: Installation Day
On installation day, a Packers installer arrives and fits your wardrobe from start to finish. How long this takes depends on the size and complexity of your project — a single built-in wardrobe is a very different scope from a full walk-in robe — but your designer will give you an estimate ahead of time.
Before the team arrives, make sure the space is clear of furniture and belongings, any trade works are fully complete, and painting is at the right stage.
The final balance is due on the day of installation, and once the installer is done, your wardrobe is ready to use.
